Dempster 3 Arctic Circle
We were pretty excited to pass the Arctic Circle - in fact - we liked it so much here that on our way back we "boondoggled" overnight here. Soooo quiet. You could see for miles in every direction but we couldn't see the dotted line!
These are caribou. The first nations folks that we talked to further north were very concerned as to why they were down on the lower tundra so early. (Usually they come down in late September. We did see a hunter heading out towards this group.
The roads from the border of the NWT north were much better than the Yukon roads. We carried right on to Inuvik (pronounced inUvik) in one day. About 370 km, 6 hours of driving on dusty roads!
