Petrified Forest State Park

As we left Bryce Canyon we headed north along 12 towards Bolder. We saw a small sign for the Petrified forest State Park. It was quite picturesque bounded by a man made (dam) lake. There was a hike up to see a wider variety of petrified wood, however the ranger wouldn't let us head up the trail because it was so wet and muddy - we would damage the trail and be at risk of slipping... there were samples all over the campsite. Quite colourful. Barb found a little spot on the rock in a brief interlude of sunshine to sit and read. Then it rained...
