As we left Page, we stopped at Horseshoe Bend, part of the Colorado just downstream from the dam. The hike was hot, up a sandy hill then down to the edge of the canyon, about 1 mile away. Laurie scares the poop out of me because he doesn't have a fear of heights and will walk out to the outcrops and then lean over to get a good picture! 300' of sheer cliffs! Its interesting to see the canyon grooves from higher up.
