Gila Cliff dwellings and the road to Silver city

We stayed at a campsite up in the mountains (about 8000') that had just a few campsites. The sheep and lambs were in the field beside us. Quite bucolic. The showers and hot tub were fed by a hot spring - too hot actually. The hot tub was 112 degrees! We woke up to a frost - quite pretty along the fences.

the road back down was worse than the road up. Switch backs, double backs, several parts only 1 lane wide. (And there seemed to be way too many cars/trucks coming up- many military) The trucks brakes and my nerves took a beating! Still it was worth the drive.

We continued on through Show Low (this town we thought we would like to go back to - nice golf course and campground) but we pushed on to Payson, Arizona.
