Alamogordo, New Mexico

We were up early because of the #$%^&*birds in the tree over our camper! (They also made the picnic table too messy to be used). So I had a run and then we headed to Roswell, NM to the UFO museum. I really had expected a little more than what they presented - and was disappointed. Pretty tacky really.
We then headed over the mountains to Alamogordo. It is a very pleasant 85 degrees, and now cooling off for the evening.
We went to a Pistachio plantation. They had orchards over several acres. Apparently they are harvested in September by placing a netting over the whole tree and then they shake it so that nothing hits the ground. They had several flavored kinds, and lots of samples! MMMM liked the "pistachio brittle". Needless to say, we have bought some to bring on the trip.

Tomorrow we plan to back track a little to go to a solar observatory and then will head on to White Sands National Monument. Still heading west.
