Yellowstone National Park 1
This is some of our first shots of Yellowstone National Park. We were astounded by the crowds of people, especially by the entrance at Mammoth. This was the area that the herds of Elk were most prevalent, and where we saw the cascading hot springs over terraces. We had been told that the campsites were almost all full and that we should try to get a site before we "went sight seeing". So we dashed through Mammoth and headed south to get in line for the last few spots. [Here is where I humbly admit that Susan and Rick were right, some places you should book ahead]...that being said, we did get in a Madison campground, the truck easily fit into a tent spot, and no campsites have services so it didn't matter where we were. In fact, it turned out to be an excellent campground in the middle of the figure 8 of roads through YNP
